☆ remember your first solo shopping trip?

co-open is a game about a kid's first time buying groceries on their own. Looks like it's time to explore and have some fun!

♲ a classic loaf of rye bread, some birthday cards, and kompot

The products available in the local cooperatively run store are community-selected, trying to suit everybody's needs. You might not find everything you're expecting, but maybe there will be something that surprises you! Check the information on product price tags to make sure you only pick fresh local produce, call your grandmother for a suggestion, or just go with whatever catches your eye! Just try not to feed the store cats off the shelves. Please. They are fed regularly.

☃ anything else?

You can get your ice cream and veggies in a few minutes to rush back home sooner — or stray away from the shelves and find yourself a part of a drawing class in the rooftop park, or an underground snowskating hangout! Don't be scared to check things out.

❀ making memories

Looks like your neighbor friend is also shopping today! But could you meet anybody else? What if it's a very (very) big crow, or a mysterious vent dweller? Maybe you will even get to keep some meaningful mementos from your adventures!

☏ so, how was your day?

In the end, grandma will always come to pick you up. What will she say about your shopping trip — or, more importantly, about your product picks?

Thank you for the cozy and beautiful experience <3

(+1)

a lovely short game about shopping. and many other things! i really enjoyed my time with this :)

(+1)

So cute! I got this in the games for palestine bundle a few months ago and played after a loong while but it's really adorable, I loved all the little secrets and character interactions we can find! Such a calm and cozy gaming experience.

(+1)

this game helped me during a particularly rough patch back in autumn of '22, thought of it again today and ran to reinstall it, 10/10 one of my fondest video game experiences

(+3)(-1)

this game is incredible! the atmosphere and the characters are so wholesome!

also! i'm not sure if you respond here, but I'm curious about the soundtrack! could you by chance grace me with the knowledge of which instruments/vsts/plugins were used in the OST? I love the soundtrack so much!

(+3)(-1)

hello! thank you for your kind comment and interest in the soundtrack! i was the composer for "co-open" so i can answer your question. most of the instruments in the OST were made using the ableton sampler and putting field recordings i had made into it. i used EQ to boost 440Hz (an 'A' note) of the audio source. this gives the sound both interesting texture, and harmonic elements to make melodies. this video goes in depth about it if you're interested in trying it out. i also used ableton's operator FM synth, synth string samples, sine waves and various other sounds. if you have more questions feel free to contact me! my contact info is on my website which is linked on my itch.io profile :)

(+1)(-1)

Thank you so much for the response! That's such an interesting way to make unique instruments! This helps me a LOT, because I've been experimenting with Meld and Operator for a while (maybe not as gracefully as others, but I'm getting there!) trying to see what kind of sounds I could conjure up, and it's very fun, but the idea of taking samples and then turning them into instruments feels like an entirely new layer! I'll definitely be watching that video, thank you :D

(+1)(-1)

of course! :)

This game was absolutely delightful from start to end. I have to admit that I was terrified for a moment when I walked into the back of the store for the first time and the music changed, so I quickly checked there wouldn't be any scary stuff, haha.

Exploring everything and trying to solve the puzzles was such a treat. Even though I had to check puzzle guides because I couldn't figure out how to progress (or the fact fences can be climbed, full on yellow paint edge discourse moment) it never hindered once that feeling of excitement about discovering the place, it just added to it.

Thank you so much for making this game. I'll always treasure the hours I've spent with it.

(+1)(-1)

I went into this blind and it was so much more than I expected. Such a wonderful and engaging game, it worked its way into a special place in my heart.

(+1)(-1)

this is so lovely

(+2)(-1)

This is quite possibly my favorite game I've ever found on itch. It presents a simple, cozy vision of community and cooperation and support that I think society should aspire to be, and that I aspire to cultivate in my own community. I truly think that games like this can inspire actual change, starting locally but enough of that and it becomes something bigger.

Whenever I open it I feel safe and seen and it's my favorite place to just chill and show to others who might need a slow safe place for a bit.

And of course, the sound track and the cats are phenomenal. :) Thank you <3

I need help with resolution settings, I recently upgraded my GPU in my pc to a nvidia 4070 and got a new MSI monitor, but the game doesn't show my preferred resolution (2560 x 1440) in the video settings, is there a settings file somewhere to set the resolution manually?

Hello! The game supports the 2560 x 1440 screen resolution. We were able to test it with a 4k monitor, but unfortunately we don't have an nvidia 4070 to test the game with. There's also no settings file to manually set the preferred resolution, sorry.

Can you check if some scaling or super resolution options are turned on for your monitor / GPU? In some cases this might be the problem with wrong screen resolution in video games.

(3 edits)

I checked and as far as I can tell, none of those are turned on, (mind you I am not familiar with the Nvidia and monitor settings, yet), but my other games I play find that resolution easily.

No idea why co-open does not.

The lowest resolution in the game is 320 x 200, the highest is 1280 x 1440, but there's back bars on the left and right with the highest selected, though it is the crispier looking display, compared to the ones lower.

I'm very confused, the game can't even find the 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Got this in the Games for Gaza bundle and just got around to playing it! This was such an adorable and cozy game I absolutely adored it! I also just love the art style, it really cheered me up playing it :)

(+1)(-1)

THIS IS SUCH AN ADORABLE GAME, the art the concept everything abt this is so lovely!! i adore it so much!!

(+1)(-1)

such a peaceful, beautiful game and vision for the world. It really made me feel like a kid, and the world felt huge and fresh and wonderful and I felt very small. Thank you so much for making it!

(+1)(-1)

impeccable vibes and charming design. the store cats kept climbing the walls and sleeping while hanging vertically off of the drink fridge. i love it here

(+1)(-1)

10/10 lets you feed cats $10000 worth of food

(and is v cute with way more content than I realized at first)

(+2)(-1)

i found this game last night as part of a bundle i had purchased was planning to play for 10 to 30 minutes 3 hours later and i was still playing i have found most of the phone numbers but am unable to work out phone numbers 1 and 13

this is a fantastic game will defiantly be recommending this to friends

(+2)

I DID IT just needed a few hours break to revisit the puzzle lol

fantastic game highly recommend

(+2)

love everything about this game!!! especially how it took me so long to figure out the "hold down the throw button" bit was actually advice... i immediately accepted it as "oh this character is just talking like a gamer for the bit" LMAO

but yeah, artstyle is great, music is great, i sat down and finished the game in one go because i just didnt want to close it.

(+1)

Hi this is the best thing ever in the whole world im lovvve it <3

(+2)

I realize I missed the game when it came out, but now that I have played it, I have to say it's an adorable game! A very enjoyable experience, I'll have to check more of what you've made since!

(+1)

Hiya I really want to play but having problems. When I start the windows version the camera spins around really fast constantly, and when I start the windows 86 version, I can't get past the menu at the beginning. Is there any way to get past this? Many thanks.

(+1)

Hello! Can you please try to launch the game (the main Windows build, not x86) with no controllers / drawing tablets / etc. connected (only mouse and keyboard) and see if that makes any difference?

(+1)

That fixed it, thanks so much!

(-1)

Does NOT work on Steam Deck

(+1)

it seems to work flawlessly for me

(+1)

this is Such a lovely game

(+1)

I want to donate a few community copies without purchasing another copy for myself. How do I do that?

(+1)

Unfortunately all types of additional purchases on itchio must be linked to the purchase of the game itself, so there's no way to create a community-copy-donation-only option.

(+1)

lovely game, though the cats in the grocery store seem to be able to get infinitely big xD

(+1)

thanks you so much for your game its was the best game i played yet i played like 10000000h but still miss 5 phone number yikes

loved your game (PLEASE MAKE A UPDATE ) <3

(+1)

does anyone know what causes Gloves to start skating? I want to talk to faer again but fae's always skating when I try to.

(+1)

The snowskaters' positions change every time the cave location gets unloaded and then loaded again. The quickest way to reload the cave location is to enter the staircase and go back to the cave warehouse. Hope this helps!

I got stuck looking for cauliflower, so I didn't understand how to progress and move forward. I was also unsure how to get off the ceiling or past the vent. It's cute, but I didn't enjoy myself as much as I thought I would.

(+3)

It's in a bag in the freezer.

(+1)

I played this game earlier this year and fell in love with it. I keep going back and thinking of my time spent with it. I recommend the game to everyone that will listen.

(+1)

I will be recommending this to all of my friends. Incredibly endearing and sweet, and made me cry.

(+1)

When grandma says she's proud of your hard work and that everyone else is too, and that you deserve a break, it made me cry. This game makes me feel like I'm doing a good job. Going to be coming back to this one often.

(+1)

Immaculate vibes. Cute as hell and so so so charming! Was sad when my shopping trip came to an end but loved the ending!

(+1)

Absolutely loved it! The characters were so cute!

(+1)

Amazing game, this inspired me to work on my own games again!  Also I'm now 12021 bird dollars in debt after feeding the orange cat half of the fruit and magazine sections.

(+1)

I had so much fun exploring this little grocery store. I want more!

(+1)

This was such a sweet little game ^^

(+1)

Cannot praise this game enough, loved the style, the characters, all of the cute hidden gems - my ideal type of game! :)

(+3)

this is one of those games that i'll look back on and wish i could experience for the first time again. everything about this game is so welcoming and comforting, i swore i wouldn't cry at the end but i really couldn't help it. such a wonderful experience

(+1)

changing the item hotkeys doesn't do anything, it still requires using number keys

Can you please specify the OS you're playing the game on and the game build version (should be visible in the main menu)?
Also, you can always use a mouse wheel to change items!

(+1)

I'm on Windows, on version 1.1.10. The hotkeys also don't work for my friend who's on the same OS and version. Mouse wheel does work and is nice, but when spamming keys for fast dialogue hotkeys are nicer :p

(+1)

really really wonderful, thank you so much for sharing!

(+2)

bought a single banana. couldnt stop laughing as it showed the images of buying said banana in the credits. 11/10
